HAIR DONATION PROCEDURE FOR THE LEUCAN SHAVED HEAD CHALLENGE

Beyond its financial objective, the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge is a gesture of solidarity toward children with cancer who undergo physical changes through hair loss during chemotherapy.

The Leucan Shaved Head Challenge also accepts hair donations. Under specific conditions, part of the hair collected could contribute to the production of wigs for children with cancer who feel they require one.

IMPORTANT: Out of respect for our members, under no circumstances will the names or photographs of the children benefiting from the wig service be revealed.

CRITERIA AND PROCEDURE FOR MAKING HAIR DONATIONS

• Hair must be 10 inches long minimum (25 cm).
• Hair must be clean, dry and should not have been swept off the floor.
• Hair locks must be tied at both ends with rubber bands, placed in a small sealable bag such as a Ziploc^® bag and identified with the donor’s name and address.
• All hair locks must be clearly identified as natural or non natural.

Recommendation: If your hair is layered, it is preferable to tie up and cut multiple locks in order to respect the minimal length of 10 inches.

Please note that the cutting of hair locks on shaving locations is exclusively for the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge participants and that the locks will be collected on site. People who wish to donate hair without having their heads shaved can do so by mailing their donation, along with their name and address, to one of Leucan’s regional offices.
